AOP Viré-Clessé Tradition

The generous expression of northern Mâconnais

The result of a family effort with long-standing partner winegrowers, this Viré-Clessé captures the generosity of the limestone hillsides near the Saône River. A Chardonnay with delicious notes of mirabelle plum, full-bodied and easy to drink.

TERROIR

2024 vintage

The Cru is located in the northern half of the Mâconnais vineyard. This cuvée is a blend of parcels located in the village of Viré and on the hillsides overlooking the village of Clessé. We make it from grapes selected from long-standing partner winegrowers (friends and family). The low altitude, limestone soils, east-southeast orientation, and proximity to the Saône River promote ripeness and produce a generous cuvée.

At the level of

wine-making

After harvesting, the grapes are loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses. The pressing process is slow and lengthy in order to gently extract the juices and thus preserve the aromatic finesse. The musts are then cooled and decanted. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats or in wood (20%, of which less than 10% are new barrels). Depending on the vintage, malolactic fermentation may or may not be sought. Aging takes place on fine lees until spring. From harvest to bottling, we limit the use of inputs such as SO2 as much as possible.

100% CHARDONNAY

For the

Tasting

Its golden color is perfumed with notes of mirabelle plums cooked in a cauldron. Chardonnay speaks a universal language here. Its rich, full-bodied fruit is supported by a fine effervescence that enhances its digestibility.
