AOP Saint-Véran Les Pommards
The perfect balance between power and freshness
On the slopes of La Roche de Solutré, this north-facing plot produces a Chardonnay of rare elegance. Generous aromas of Bergeron apricots, notes of white flowers and flint: a wine where power and freshness are in perfect harmony.
TERROIR
2021 vintage
This 0.81-hectare plot of Chardonnay (8,000 vines per hectare) was planted between 1975 and 1983. Located in the commune of Davayé, on the hillside of La Roche de Solutré, it faces north and has a 30% slope. The soil is marly, moderately deep, with chert on the surface.
At the level of
wine-making
The grapes are harvested by hand and loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses. We use long pressing cycles to preserve the delicate aromas. The musts are stabilized by cold treatment, then decanted and placed in barrels for fermentation. The 19-month aging process includes 11 months in barrels that have held 1 to 3 wines, followed by 8 months in vats. We do not use SO2 on the harvest, but we do use it during the aging phase to ensure the wine’s stability.
100% CHARDONNAY
For the
Tasting
It reveals a clear, golden color. Its generous aroma of perfectly ripe Bergeron apricots is very pronounced in this vintage. Its white nectarine flesh is enlivened by a touch of mouthwatering acidity. Elegance and minerality go hand in hand in this cuvée with aromas of white flowers, flint, and dried fruit.
