Les Crays
AOP Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Crays
An exceptional Premier Cru at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson
Produced from a single plot at an altitude of 400 meters on iron-rich limestone soil, this complex and mineral cuvée is the result of 19 months of patient aging. A finely crafted Chardonnay with aromas of stone fruit and honeysuckle, and an addictive finish.
TERROIR
2021 vintage
This 1.02-hectare plot of Chardonnay was planted between 1969 and 1995 (9,000 vines per hectare). It is located at the foot of the rocky cliff of Vergisson, at an altitude of 400 meters, facing south, with a 25% slope. The shallow soil is very calcareous and rich in iron oxide.
At the level of
wine-making
The grapes are harvested by hand and loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses. We use long pressing cycles to preserve the delicate aromas. The musts are stabilized by cold treatment, then decanted and placed in barrels for fermentation. The 19-month aging process includes 11 months in barrels that have held 1 to 3 wines, followed by 8 months in vats. We do not use SO2 on the harvest, but we do use it during the aging phase to ensure the wine’s stability.
100% CHARDONNAY
For the
Tasting
Its golden color sparkles with silvery gray highlights, while stone fruits and honeysuckle blossoms explode in the glass. The aromatic palette is very broad and enhanced by a finely chiseled structure. The finish is marked by minerality with an addictive crispness and salivation.
