Our
story
Originally
Joanny Collovray settled in this small village in southern Bourgogne, a few kilometers west of MĂącon. He owns a traditional mixed farming operation, combining goat cheese production, fruit growing, and vineyards. As a sharecropper, he makes wine for the owners, and merchants handle the marketing.
Â
In 1956, his son Henri took over the farm. He worked alongside his father, continuing with mixed farming and livestock breeding. At the time, it was goat cheese rather than wine that provided the family’s main income. Nevertheless, he developed Joanny’s wine business by acquiring a few plots of land, which he planted with the âMĂącon-DavayĂ©â appellation .” Christian, his son, began working in the vineyards at the age of 16. He gave up animal husbandry to devote himself entirely to the vines.
Â
The Terrier family, for its part, does not claim distant winegrowing roots. However, it has always been associated with winegrowing, as LĂ©on Terrier was the blacksmith in the village of DavayĂ©. Immersed in this environment, Jean-Luc Terrier, the son, undertook agricultural studies. Along the way, he met a neighbor and childhood friend, Christian Collovray, and together they decided to devote themselves to winegrowing…

Two families,
one passion
Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier have been friends since childhood and grew up sharing a common love for vines and wine. Their bond grew stronger when they married two sisters, Brigitte and Florence. They too came from a family of winegrowers.
The four of them imagined an estate that would produce wine from Christian’s vines. It was 1985, and the history of the estate began.
Deux Roches was the obvious choice for a name. All the vineyard plots are spread around the rocks of Vergisson and Solutré, remnants of prehistoric human activity and a unique and emblematic geological heritage of the southern Mùconnais region.
From the outset, the roles were clearly defined. Christian took care of the vines, while Jean-Luc managed the cellar and the commercial side of the business. Brigitte and Florence started out in the vineyard before moving on to bottling. As the estate grew, they took on administrative and commercial support roles.
In 2009, Julien Collovray, the son of Christian and Brigitte, joined the family estate after completing his studies (viticulture, oenology, law, economics) and gaining experience in various wine-growing structures (USA, France). He supervises and coordinates the work in the vineyard, packaging, and management of the business.
Three years later, his wife Caroline Collovray joined them. A trained oenologist, she has worked as a winemaker at several estates. Today, she is responsible for the company’s human resources management.
Finally, in 2019, Pierre-Alexis Terrier, the son of Florence and Jean-Luc, took his place at the estate after training in Switzerland, London, and New Zealand. He oversees sales, communications, and business management.
united by blood, strengthened by passion
a family estate
Today, six members of the Family work on the estate and cultivate their cohesion, surrounded by a close-knit, loyal, and passionate team. Around these pillars, other members of the family provide support and expertise here and there. Some cultivate vineyards from which Collovray & Terrier buys grapes, thus ensuring quality of supply and consistency in working methods.
