A sunny vintage with vegetal freshness
Perched on a dizzying 42% south-facing slope, this secluded plot produces a powerful, structured Chardonnay. Aged for 19 months, it reveals citrus notes on a long, chalky, salty finish.
2021 vintage
This 0.58-hectare plot of Chardonnay (9,000 vines per hectare) was planted between 1977 and 1989. Located in the commune of Davayé, on the hillside of La Roche de Vergisson, it faces south and has a 42% slope. The soil is marly, shallow, and composed of limestone scree.
The grapes are harvested by hand and loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses. We use long cycles to preserve the aromatic finesse. The musts are stabilized by cold treatment, then decanted and placed in barrels for fermentation. The 19-month aging process includes 11 months in barrels that have held 1 to 3 wines, followed by 8 months in vats. We do not use SO2 on the harvest, but we do use it during the aging phase to ensure the wine’s stability.
100% CHARDONNAY
A golden-hued wine with a round body, enlivened by citrus notes. Full-bodied, structured, and powerful on the palate. The finish is long, warm, and tangy, with chalky and salty notes.
