1/ The village of Davayé

The Rocks of Solutré and Vergisson are iconic sites of Southern Burgundy. They were classified as a Grand Site de France in 2013. These limestone escarpments, at altitudes of 493m and 483m, were formed over several million years, long before our era. The Rock of Solutré is full of fossils of marine creatures, such as mollusks, shells, and crinoids. The archaeological discoveries made on the site led to the creation of the Museum of Prehistory, embedded in the rock. Enriched by your visit to the museum, you can climb to the summit to admire a panoramic view of the Mâconnais region. You can also observe the horses of the Konik Polski breed, which resemble their prehistoric ancestors, and maintain the protected limestone grasslands classified as a Natura 2000 zone.
